Movie Review:
The World Premiere of ‘THE ORATORY’, an inspirational film presented by The Salesians of Don Bosco
Rev. Fr. Michael Simmons, (Rich Lowe Ikenna) is an American Catholic priest sent from Turin, Italy to a posh parish in Ikoyi, Lagos.
On arrival, the young, stubborn priest becomes more interested in the plights of street children from the nearby slum called Makoko. However, to reach the desperate boys, he has to step on big toes in his host parish. He must also confront Shuga, the dangerous Makoko kingpin who has the street boys locked in criminal servitude.
Drawing inspiration from St. John Bosco (1815 – 1888) and the Salesian missionaries, Fr. Michael must put everything, including his own personal safety, on the line in order to set up The Oratory and find his life’s purpose in a strange and precarious environment.
