Vocations Sunday 2011
Our celebration began with a prayer service in Muckross Abbey. Musice was provided by the Killarney Youth Choir under their director Noel O’ Sullivan. Local musicians Marina Cassidy (harp) and Miriam O’Sullivan (flute) played and sang reflectively while historian Maureen O’ Sullivan provided us with the history of the Abbey. Prayer and reflections followed on the them of vocation and pilgrimage. We were delighted to have Bishop Bill Murphy join us on our four-mile pilgrimage to the Franciscan Friary where Mass was celebrated by Fr. Joe Bullman. The liturgy was enhanced by the beautiful singing of the Friary choir under their director Deirdre O’Sullivan. This was interspersed by some relflective hymns from Marina and Miriam. Angela Leahy and her team of women helpers provided welcome refreshments in the Friary gardens after the Mass.
