Invitation to Monastic Experience Weekend in Roscrea

Mount Saint Joseph Abbey, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary is hosting a Monastic Experience Weekend from Friday 11th – Sunday 13th March 2016. It is an opportunity for young men between the ages of 20 and 40 who may be discerning a religious vocation to find out more about monastic life and to listen to God’s call by sharing the rhythm of the monastic daily prayer schedule. There will be an opportunity to speak one-to-one with a monk and reflect together on the monastic vocation.
This might be for you:
If you feel attracted to monastic life and wonder whether it might be for you.
If you have thought sometimes that God might be calling you to religious life, but have hesitated to take the first step.
To make an enquiry or to arrange a meeting to talk about your vocation discernment, please contact our Vocations Director, Br Malachy Thompson, by email to malachy@msjroscrea.ie or text or call him at 085 8338503.

“The Sister’s Café” opens its doors to develop greater awareness of the role of Irish Sisters
A new pop up café, “The Sister’s Café” is to open its doors on February 25th to help develop awareness amongst young women of the role that Irish Sisters play in society. “The Sister’s Café” which is being run in conjunction with Vocations Ireland hopes to open up conversations between Irish Sisters from all congregations and Irish women from the ages of 20 to 35 who may be interested in learning more about spirituality and the role that Sisters play in modern day Irish communities.
So who will be having a cup of tea or coffee at the “The Sister’s Café”? Congregations from 8 female religious groups including Medical Missionaries of Mary, Francsican Missionaries of Divine Motherhood, Dominicans, Salesians, Daughters of Charity, Marie Reparatrice Sisters, St Joseph of Cluny Sister will be there to meet, greet and share conversation. There will also be the opportunity to learn more about vocations and the meaningful role that a Sister can play in assisting the more vulnerable in society.
Commenting on the Sister Cafe, Sr Edel Murphy, Dominican Sisters, Cabra said, “The Sister Café will be a social place where women can get a real sense of the impact we make and what faith can bring to the broader community. We are aware that many people don’t have an understanding of our work – this gives us an opportunity to share what our life is really like. Women who are interested in education, health, society and parish work will get a first hand insight into the life as a sister.”
Margaret Cartwright Director of Vocations Ireland, added, “Young women regularly approach us about potential vocations and yet there is no open forum which enables them to really explore their options. We believe our little café will allow women to get to know our lifestyle a lot better.”
The Sister Café opens on the evening of February 25th in the Dominican Adult Education Centre, Merrion Avenue in Blackrock, Co Dublin. Speakers at the inaugural Café include Srs Carmel Ryan, Deirdre Twomey and Julie Buckley
