Is our way God’s way for you?

The Dominican Nuns were founded by St Dominic in 1206, and form an integral part of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). Our community in Drogheda dates from 1722 – founded by Sr Catherine Plunkett, a close relative of St Oliver Plunkett. Our main ‘work’ is to be a praying presence at the heart of the Church – bearing witness to the reality of God in a world which more and more ignores His Presence. The Eucharist and the Liturgy of the Hours (Divine Office) are solemnly celebrated daily and we take our turn at Eucharistic Adoration throughout the day.

We try to put into practice the TRUTH which our Dominican brothers and sisters, who are engaged in the apostolate, preach – always seeking the glory of God and the salvation of all people. We are always happy to share our vocation stories with those who are interested – how we live our community life balancing prayer and study; work and rest; silence and recreation.

For those who are attracted and called, it is a beautiful life, one of profound gratitude to the Lord; and we are daily aware of His Spirit moving and working in us, holding us together, and inspiring us to remain faithful in a world and at a time where fidelity and faith are not always valued.

Our World needs prayer; is God calling you for this urgent work?
